The Power of The Great List

Learn my exact note-taking system to capture the best ideas from articles, podcasts, videos, and so much more.

From there, you can shift your approach to life.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Making the List Write each of these sentence fragments down 5 times:

  • “It was great that…”

  • “It is great that…”

  • “It will be great when…” Then set aside 10 minutes each day and finish these fifteen sentences. This gives you an automatic format to appreciate your day

  1. Do it Consistently The value in any project is only unlocked once you commit to it. After a week of doing this, go back and look at everything you write. You will be surprised at the great things that have happened to you that you have already forgotten

  2. Driving Action The Great List encourages reflection as it leads you to identify things you like in your life and the skills you have. The “It will be great when” section is particularly important as it shows you what you are excited about and also helps you to reframe events you are anxious about as positive upcoming experiences. Finally, it can help you track the things you enjoy and find what you really love to do
