Stop Procrastinating by Fixing Your Mindset
Without the right mindset and self-awareness, it’s impossible to do anything in life.
You have to learn how to use your brain. Otherwise, your brain will use you.
I often hear people saying: “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I keep procrastinating.” Most people don’t know what they do with their time, and therefore, their life.
If you don’t know where your time goes, you don’t know yourself. And if you don’t know yourself, you can never stop procrastination or improve your productivity.
The solution comes from Peter Drucker:
Keep an activity log to become more effective.
It‘s easy:
Record In order to be more effective, you need to know where your time goes. Keep a notepad on your desk and record everything you do for 2 weeks. At the end of every hour just write everything that you have done in the 60 minutes. Be honest with yourself
Identify Now that you have data, it‘s about using it to optimize your time. First, you need to identify your time-wasters. Pick your own definition of "time-wasters" or use mine: "a time-wasting activity is something that does not contribute to my goals"
Eliminate After identifying the time-waster, it‘s time to eliminate them. The best optimization is zero. Just stop doing it altogether
Here‘s an example: stop going to conferences since they don‘t contribute to your goals.
What are your time-wasters?
