How To Set Up Chrome for Focused Work
You put your phone on silent, but you’re still scrolling through the internet, this time on your computer.
Here are a few tips to clean up your web browser so you aren’t sucked into an internet black hole:
#1 Have a Single Tab Policy
We all know it’s impossible to get work done with just one tab.
That being said, it is important to start a project with only one.
The biggest pitfall of web browsers is that when you reopen the app, it will reopen all the tabs from before, which can be the beginning of the end of a day of productivity.
To set up a single tab policy:
Go to settings
Scroll to the bottom
Click on ‘Manage on startup pages.’
Select the ‘Open the New Tab’ page
Now every time you start Chrome, you can get a fresh start.
#2 Drive Focus With the Momentum Extension
This extension gives you a dashboard in your new tab, which provides you with the time and prompts you to think about your main focus for the day.
This is great because it brings your awareness back to the present moment and forces you to think about what to do next.
It’s easy and can be done right now to help you get started on staying time aware and goal-oriented.
