How to Kill Your Phone Addiction (in 4 Easy Steps)
These tactics are extreme and won’t all work for everyone. But at least one of these tricks will help you.
We are all addicted to our phones.
We respond to notifications and find ourselves swiping through apps, mindlessly tapping and typing having no intention or goal, just opening them out of habit.
Anxiety sets in.
Time is lost.
You wonder what just happened.
You know the feeling.
The good news is you can break this addiction with these 4 rules:
#1 No second screen
Limit all of your apps to your home screen, forcing you to search for apps instead of browsing.
Keep a few on the screen and insert the rest in a folder.
#2 Live and love search
Set your intention, then use search for the app you need.
This eliminates distraction and makes you think deliberately about why you are grabbing your phone in the first place.
#3 No notifications
It’s a phone, so when someone calls or texts you can respond.
Everything else is a distraction and should be opted out of.
#4 Do Not Disturb All Day
Set Do Not Disturb (DND) to allow calls only from your Favorites or Contacts.
And always allow repeated calls for emergencies.
To keep it on all day, use this hack: Set it from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
Don’t let distractions rule your precious time on this planet.
