Every week, I receive dozens of emails sharing frustrations and struggles, asking for help.
If I could sum up the most common theme from all these messages, it would be this:
“I wish I could spend more time with my family. I want to do well at work AND I want to have time for my kids and partner”.
A nurse in palliative care once shared the top 5 regrets people make on their deathbed.
Number #2?
“I wish I didn’t work so hard.”
(#1 was “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” Sounds familiar?)
If you are reading this, odds are you feel the same.
You’re ambitious and want to be a superstar at work. You’re a hard and smart professional who wants to do more, better.
(how do I know this? Well, you’re here reading about productivity, after all…)
But you also want to…
Be home by 5 PM every day so that you can spend quality time with your family.
Have the freedom to watch your kid’s play or ball game without feeling guilty.
Enjoy the weekend creating new memories with your kids without the stress of checking email every 10 minutes.
Have time for a spontaneous drink with friends or to treat yourself to a massage, manicure, or sports night.
But you only want this if you’re not dropping the ball at work (no need to feel bad admitting this, being ambitious is good).
Why do you want to be home by 5 PM?
Hit "reply" and let me know.
That’s all for today.
Now go enjoy the weekend with your family ;)
P.S.
This April, I’m helping 10 people finally get home by 5 PM to spend time with their families without dropping the ball at work.
Doors open to everyone on this list on April 4th.
If you don't want to risk losing your spot, reply "spot" and I’ll send the details before everyone else.
