4 Tips to Develop Better Habits This Year
Humans have always had a hard time getting themselves to be the best they can be.
There are SIX different types of procrastination personalities. Do you know what your procrastination personality is? Take this short quiz to find out!
We all want to be better people, and the key to doing that is starting with good habits.
#1 Start Small
Break your big goal into a smaller habit.
Small habits that make an enormous difference in your life.
While they are small, they can add up in a big way.
Don’t say you want to read more.
Instead, start by reading one page a day.
Smaller is easier, and easier is key to getting started.
Think of something you’ve been wanting to do and break it down to its smallest component.
You can probably do it right now.
#2 Create a Physical Reminder
Get a physical totem.
This can make the habit or standard you’re trying to hold yourself to into something more than an idea.
When it’s something physical that you can touch, it grounds you.
Find something small and assign it value.
You can even buy yourself something, just make sure that you know what it’s for so each time you touch it, you think about the habit you’re trying to build.
#3 Lay Out Your Supplies
If the habit you’re trying to build is a physical one, lay your supplies somewhere you have to confront them.
If you want to skip the habit, you have to pick them up and move them aside.
You’ll be less likely to take the easy way out if it’s embarrassingly simple to do the task you want to do.
To do this, you can lay journals on your work desk or work out clothes next to your bed.
#4 Piggyback New Habits on Old Habits
We all have habits that we want to do, but it can be hard to implement them into our days.
Something you can do to fix this is to combine your new habit with an old habit that you already do every day.
If you want to help out the environment, and you already like walking, just start picking up trash as you go.
