4 Steps to Make Your Phone Distraction-Free
Do you feel your phone in your pocket, calling you, like the Ring called Bilbo Baggins?
It’s time to make a change.
If you’re intrigued, I encourage you to try going distraction-free for 24 hours:
#1 Remove the Browser iPhone: Go to Settings, then Restrictions. Turn ‘em on, and then you can turn off Safari
Android: disable Chrome in App Settings
#2 Remove Mail
iPhone: delete your email account in Settings
Android: disable Gmail in App Settings
#3 Remove “infinity” apps
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and even the New York Times — all of these have a potentially endless supply of new and interesting stuff that you could check at any time.
So none of them belong on your phone.
#4 Consciously decide what to keep
Having a blank desktop on the phone is surprisingly calming.
Keep the tools that make your life better.
For example, mine are Google Drive, Google Maps, Uber, Alarm Clock, and Pocket Casts.
